Foxwood House

This is a beautiful, historical house with lovely gardens. An excellent venue, and with a generator for loadshedding and conferencing. The staff are lovely and the rooms are large. There are however some areas for improvement - mainly to do with the food and serving: the breakfast has no variety- just fried eggs and bacon- it is also done one by one, so takes time when you are a group of 8. There was no coffee or tea or fruit at breakfast, we had to request yogurt on the second and third day we were there. The lunch they served us however was incredibly tastey. There are no soaps or creams in the room, which is a bit inconvenient.

Hidden gem in Joburg. Wonderful and peaceful accommodation. It feels like a home from home. The breakfast was not very special or outstanding - quite plain and ordinary. I think more effort could have gone into the breakfast. But for a stopover while in Joburg, it is recommendable. The atmosphere is awesome and the buildings and gardens are phenomenal.

Had Christmas lunch here and the ambiance, decor and service was very good. The outdoor scenery is very beautiful and picture perfect. The food wasn't too bad. The price is a bit expense but worthwhile. The owners are friendly and very down to earth.There isn't really catering for kids but in between the serving of food you can go walk along path to see the ducks and swans in the ponds.

One of my favourite spots, so I might be biased. It's such a peaceful and laid-back place.I love the combination of a good show and a relaxed lunch afterwards. The food is of high quality. Curry chicken and the fillet steak highly recommended. The chocolate sweet is the perfect dessert treat.They did not have my choice of soft drink, perhaps the bar could be better stocked.

We have a church service there every Sunday. What a blessing..the trees are beautiful, the flowers a pool and a pond with a couple of swans and some ducks every now and then they have little ducklings. It's so sweet. The area is serene ..

I have to tell a story to describe my experience. So I got robbed in JHB, the guesthouse owner helped me and let me use his laptop to login to my account and notify people. Mr Pieter was absolutely wonderful. If I needed anything I could ask him or Oscar the manager. They were great hosts!

Foxwood theatre , set in the culture- and historically-rich Houghton where so many of our Leaders lived, is a strong and brave leader boldly speaking out with their productions and panel discussions against the current worldwide grip of fascism and societal maleficent manipulation . Other creative artistic productions of merit are also presented. Stimulating , thought provoking and wise presenters give much needed in depth information and inspiration for humanity. I give the Foxwood Managers Standing Applause.

These people have zero integrity or moral standards.I made a booking on short notice on behalf of a friend who residues outside of South Africa.The booking was for a month’s period and they had a room available on short notice.We paid the deposit in full after negotiating a special rate.Unfortunately after 2 days since the stay commenced we had to cancel the booking due to unforeseen and medical circumstances. We were completely ok with paying a penalty but the manager and his staff were rude and outrageous.First of all the person on the phone kept on talking over me and attacking me on the phone when I tried to explain to him what the issue was and then he put the phone down in my ear.I have tried to communicate to the manager and he is also not very helpful- still hasn’t even phoned me just sends me threatening emails.Basically they decided that they would push the rate back up to full price upon cancellation and take 50% on that amount.In other words it’s a 75% cancellation fee on a month’s tariff.They clearly have zero integrity and morals. No sense of humanity they are just greedy people who refuse to be reasonable.I do not recommend them. There are much nicer places to stay in Houghton where people are actually nice and understanding of situations like this.But be aware- if you cancel your booking here you will be shunned and treated like a feral animal.Completely unprofessional behavior.Disgusting how they treat people.

A serene quiet setting. Good for people seeking rest and privacy. There is a beautiful garden for kids to run around. I enjoyed watching the swans and ducks play in the garden. The rooms have a retro feel with contemporary outside showers. Good for hosting writing retreats and small conferences.
