parking area is bit small , hiking trail to the shipreck . follow footpath which goes through bush and rocky area. Local resident use it to walk or run, some with their dogs. The path to to the shipreck is some area very steep and can dangerous if not careful. One can always make use of local guide's . Contact mountain man via Facebook,he comes highly recommended. Warning, it can be dangerous if hiking alone as poaches activities in the area.

We did the Shipwreck trail. It was very challenging to get to the Shipwreck due to minimal visibility and markings of the trail. Heading back was lot easier. Challenging hike with beautiful views of the ocean and the Shipwreck

There's always parking here in a beautiful part of Hout Bay. The same car guard and sometimes his wife are always there to look after your car. They've even built a little garden around the entrance to where the road leads towards the dunes and Sandy Bay. The route to Sandy Bay beach from here is very pretty although it is a bit of a hike getting back up, however well worth it with some of the most stunning views in the whole of Cape Town. This is a popular place to start for trailrunners because there are amazing trails leading off from here wether along the coast or to the shipwreck or up and over Suther peak. You're spoilt for choice. It's also a good starting point for surfers wanting to surf Sandy Bay - one of the world's best beach breaks sometimes better than Llandudno. If you're from overseas I highly recommend adding the Sandy Bay area to your wishlist of places to visit and starting here because it is one of the most beautiful and special places to visit in the world.

Unfortunately I've had an unpleasant experience here, but I can only blame myself for carelessly forgetting my brand new action camera on my vehicles roof... I had daydreamed that I lived in a honest world where you don't go onto other peoples property ie car/yard/house and take something because i left it on the roof/grass/table.... Do yeah brand new actio. Camera I received as a gift a d in my excitement forgot on my roof - GONE, SOME CLEPTOMANIAC WANTED IT. AND THE CAR GUARD WAS OBLIVIOUS... COULD HAVE GUESSED... SO MY ADVICE NO VALUABLES IN YOUR VEHICLES... AND THE CAR GAURD IS MORE OF A TIP COLLECTOR THAN GUARD... AND NOT VERY AWARE OF HIS TURF".. M"
