The place is old....very old, it is not renovated as advertised on the website. And they won't return your deposit even after making several follow ups.

The place exceeded my expectations , the staff was very nice and down to earth. The manager 'cynthias daughter ' was sweet and humble , more especially her son Matthews who took us for a hike to the mountain top to see the whole dam. The place is very neat. I wouldn't mind coming back with my family.i loved it

I wish to respond to Evangeline. I take exception to your comments on the web regarding Cynthia's Country Stay. All the bedding is washed after each guest and was certainly clean on your arrival. You booked the camping style unit with outdoor bathrooms. Had you bothered to read what you were booking online, you would have read that these are rustic wooden chalets. The furniture is not old and creaky, unless you were referring to the antique chair in the main bedroom. I personally go through each unit once my cleaning staff have cleaned to check that each chalet is 100%. On your arrival you were upset straight away that the bathroom was outdoors. No sooner had I reached reception, when u left about 5 minutes later stating that you were going to get food. .....why could you not just tell us u were not happy with the unit. I guess it's easier to slate someone when u are not facing them. Regarding reception, yes the mgr does stay there but you were not in His kitchen. And they do have 2 cats but it certainly dies not smell of cats. It may have been the treats left out for the cat that u were smelling. The unit was clean on your arrival. But fear you left a bad smell for lying to us on departure. The reason we could not refund your deposit was because you did not leave us a bank account number to return it to. Please in future, when you are having a bad day, don't take it out on honest people who are trying to make a living btw.....For R180 pp........what we offer is really value for money. Next time book into a formula 1

Absolutely appalling. Place is dirty and the furniture is so old that it creaked. It is literally a shack and nothing like the pictures. It smells of cats and the reception is a house in which the owners live. They were cooking something and let us sit in the kitchen. My kids were too afraid to touch anything in the shack. The linen was dirty and we left immediately after seeing the place. We also cannot get our deposit back. Would've rather paid the higher rates for the place in the pictures. We ended up having to find proper accommodation elsewhere in the night with my kids!

Direction was a bit unclear if it wasn't for GPS we would have been lost, we had the main house for 3nights we loved it here we will definitely come back

Spent new years at this place, second time in one year. The house is nice but I would suggest they make changes to the decor and maybe minimise the beds especially in the main bedroom. Overall it wasn't such a bad place

My sister and I currently live in Australia and spent the Easter weekend here. We found Cynthia's country house to be more than satisfactory. The linen and amenities were clean and although rustic ( we stayed in the wooden cottages) we were well looked after by Colleen and her team. It's not a five star hotel don't get me wrong, but its a beautiful, quiet setting and if you want hospitality you won't find better at this price.

Old and dilapidated. Beds and linen were dirty and uncomfortable. Bathrooms were dirty, neglected and generally gross.Do NOT book unless you get the Main House.

My family spent the Easter weekend and it was WONDERFUL! The Main House was equipped with everything we needed. The amenities were clean and more than adequate. Colleen and her crew treated us like royalty, nothing was too much to ask for. My husband especially loved the bonfire at night. It is off the beaten track but nothing that our family sedan couldn't handle. Waking up with nature at your doorstep was refreshing and healing for the soul. We would visit again.

Very peaceful place. Quiet, clean and very well managed. They are very friendly. I've been here more than once and i still intend on going back
