Sterkspruit Mountain Haven

Accommodation : so we finally got there and we were told “there is your room” . Upon entering we found out there were no power plugs. Aside from the fact that there is no network we just wanted our devices charged for pictures etc. This was definitely a disappointment as per almost all other places we have been, the plug points were clearly in visible locations.Then surprise surprise ..the lights are not all working. The solar power panel or battery is insufficient so you cannot have all the lights on and even if you just have 1 on it will switch off by 22:00. So also not ideal.Food: We had paid for a breakfast upfront and were hoping we would have paid the equivalent of a spur. Farmhouse breakfast per person to get a decent breakfast. However what we received was very below par. Eggs were terribly made ,burnt bacon and 1 pork sausage. Thankfully the coffee and tea was just okay. The rest of the food we brought on our own as we understood it was self catering.Views and Hikes:This I must say is the only good thing about the place. The hiking trails are well marked and clear with difficulty levels. We had a great time hiking to the amphitheater and to the tower.Hospitality:It was strange that we were not told that there is Wi-Fi but also that other people who are not of color were treated differently and were given more benefits and were offered all the amenities that we only heard of in passing. I will leave it at that so this doesn’t get misconstrued.On our last night there, the previous guests had checked out. We asked to move into the main house accommodation for power and for some of the amenities we were not offered. Dstv, a bath tub etc and we were told “there aren’t enough linen sheets”. Which is bulls*t given you are running a BNB with multiple rooms and guests. Even the people that were there mentioned they would not be coming back. Overall, I would give the whole thing a 4/10. 2 for the views and 2 for the hikes.

Exceptional service, breathtaking views and great hiking trails.We celebrated our anniversary here this weekend and were treated with a romantic dinner in the indigenous forest. We had lamb shank with an special source, the food was fantastic!

What an excellent outing we had to this cosy Guesthouse that also caters for day visitors. It has the most amazing hiking trails and small venue facilities. We are so excited about our weekend booked for November.

I have recently visited on Sterkspruit Mountain Haven with the owner and developer, Mr. Fanus van der Merwe, where I have walked the Leopard Trail (one of four hiking trails on the estate). It was a wonderful experience where nature, hospitality and authenticity merged. It was food for the soul and I would really recommend a stay at Sterkspruit Mountain Haven - with 360 views far away from the hustle and bustle. I would love to go back there for a longer period of time in order to walk the other trails and to drink in the breathtaking views from high up in the mountain. A haven indeed...

We had an awesome weekend at Mountain Haven Sterkspruit. I slept like a baby due to the altitude and lower temperature. The rocky road contributed greatly towards the excitement and nostalgic theme. City forgotten, just here and now, stunning views, natural aromas and fresh air. Kiepersol offers perfect amenities and boma for our double birthday party later this month. Can't wait!!!!
