Great position, Great Staff, but the rooms are really cranky. I had a Standard Room which did not have enough space to swing a pair of underpants. I was upgraded and this room was also cranky, with the bedside lamps not working.Due to the great staff who understood my frustration, (They showed me some of the other rooms which were substantially better.) I will be giving them a second try next week.

Prisca made us feel welcome from the start and were very friendly. We could not get aircon on but the owner came out within minutes to help out. This is definitely our new home whenever we have to stay over in Johannesburg.

Very nice guesthouse in a great location. The neighborhood was quiet but walking distance to a lively street with several restaurants and pubs. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Nice size bathroom. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The TV with Roku including Netflix was a nice touch. Hearty breakfast to send us on our way.

The attitude that Prisca had towards me was so negative, from entering the premises until we left the place, we had to negotiate to get a remote for the gate, she suggested that we use a manual gate as she was not willing to give us the remote, which she eventually did. She wanted to know our ins and outs. We found the bed linen was soiled, we have pictures of that. I handwashed the towels and pillow cases that we used after the first night as I was not sure if the linen will be changed as we found it soiled. She had a nerve to say we must take care of her linen on our second night.

I stayed at the Melville Turret for 6 days, alone, split between work and vacation. Everything went very well, and I highly recommend this Guesthouse with its welcoming, friendly, warm and smiling staff, always available to meet any need. The rooms are clean and well appointed, as are the collective areas. Very pretty interior courtyard. Breakfast is generously prepared by Prisca, incredibly kind and with whom it is very easy to exchange and share. The street and the neighborhood are calm and safe, we are close (10 min walk) to activities / bars / restaurants on 7th. I could not have asked for better for this experience in Johannesburg. Thank you again very much to the staff and owners! As promised, hope to see you again soon... Greetings from France, Morgan

The bed was so comfortable. My room no 29 didn't have a mirror, no hair dryer, no shower cap, no heater I had to ask for it as my room was extremely cold. I think they need to add microwave and fridge in their rooms. The old lady working there should stop irritating quest during breakfast. I had my coffee already yet she kept asking if I needed a juice, should she bring bread, would I like to have some fruits. That's really not necessary. Breakfast was great.
