Nu Metro

Went to watch the last movie on Monday evening. The self-service screens were all off. Fine, we go to counter and one of the staff members had her hand on her cheek, looking so bored, with no energy to attend to customers. Two other gentlemen just stood there with their hands on their pockets like they also didn't want to be there. Either your staff morale is low or your employees' customer service service battery dies after 6 pm because they can't make customers feel like they are an inconvenience for going to the cinema.As they were dealing with other customers in front of us, I'm glad we were asked to go collect our tickets at VIP counter because I couldn't stand the attitude I was going to have to deal with. We were efficiently assisted by the lady there, but very disappointed in by the service we were welcomed by.

Absolutely love the VIP experience at Hydepark Corner! Friendly staff and a relatively easy flow to get your tickets, snacks and seats. Very well maintained bathrooms.Can also suggest the food that is made fresh and delivered to your seat.

What a good experience. Went to SceneVIP, definitely worth the money. A good setup, comfy recliner chairs . Temperature checks were in place, and masks worn all round. Also, Venom 2, is a must watch!

Absolutely shocking experience. 2 power failures in one movie. 20 minute delay for each restart. Then start the movie from the incorrect place, twice. Meaning you are forced to watch 15 minutes of the movie you have already seen, twice. Just unequipped to deal with load shedding, after all this time. Made a 3 hour movie into over 4 hours. Pathetic doesn't actually tell the story.

This is for sure the best cinema I have visited in all my time. Will definitely not go anywhere else. Lovely staff, friendly and excellent service. The cinema was spacious and so so comfortable.

Cons: Their online booking system is slightly problematic and inconvenient with consumers needing to print out movie tickets despite booking online.The prices are steep and the discounts offered insignificant. I had 2 vouchers (as part of a movie discount program) to redeem at the Cinema and unfortunately couldn't redeem them at the self-service machine, so I had to go to the counter. The two times I tried to redeem these vouchers, I was met with rude and unfriendly behaviour by the employees there. One of the times, the employee even wanted to pick a seat for me as if I do not have a choice as to where I want to sit in the cinema.I question why offer discounted movie vouchers, if your employees do not want people to use them? Also why do some of the employees behave like they are better than the consumers?Sterkinekor is better, cheaper and friendlier and their online booking system is top tier.Pros: Their cinemas are enjoyable with the reclining seats and the popcorn is delicious at times.

My nearest movie place to me, literally 2 minutes away. I love their seats. Not that big selection of movies.Snacks are reasonably priced, service is good, overall great experience.

Went for the 4DX experience watching FF10. What an in theatre experience with moving chairs, water sprays and at times odours for effect. Enjoyed it, but too much of a bumpy ride for me.The pre entry experience was a bit disappointing though. We purchased online tickets, printed it at the kiosk and then had to wait in a long queue for our snacks. I think the person who checked our tickets could have ushered us to the 4DX waiting area where they have a kiosk and even delivery to the Theatre as well, because the tickets are quite pricey.

It is a lovely niche shopping centre which perfectly supplement the movie experience. So when visiting the movies you can have a great Chinese restaurant experience to a Seattle Coffee inside Exclusive Books. View some are and enjoy the experience. I prefer to watch mainly art movies so I go to Ster Kinekor Cinema Nouveau in Rosebank. It is not far from Hydepark. If you have to compare the two movie experiences, Nu Metro just offer a much more consistent pleasant movie experience. Yes, I would have loved if they showed art movies there, but understandable they cater for a larger market. The setting of having a movie theater inside Hydepark Shopping Centre was a great decision years ago to do and it is still up to today one of the best places to go for a movie.

Movie started 25 minutes late- and there wasn’t any load shedding at the time. Other than this oversight by the staff and management, it was a great experience and great night out. It’s a fully immersive cinema experience.
