I visited Spiga on a random Friday night after having driven down to Durban from Johannesburg. We were staying in Musgrave and had no idea where to go for dinner. My brother recommended this place and it didn't disappoint especially after a 6 hour drive.I don't know if it ever gets cold in Durban but the breeze on the night wasn't a factor because this inviting restaurant has indoor and outdoor heating. There was a family next to our table wearing shorts in June. So you'll probably be fine if your underdressed. To eat we went for the Spicy Salami Pizza and my partner had the Penne Romana. The pizza was good but the pasta really made me give this place five stars. The Romana sauce paired with well cooked and seasoned penne and mushrooms will make any date night a memorable experience. I don't usually order pasta when I am out because most of the time I feel like I could have done it better at home. But Spiga's pasta is well worth it.The service was friendly and also helpful when I didn't know what wine to have. The house red is well worth it if you just want something to go with the meal.My only criticism is that they didn't have locally produced sparkling water. I am not that big on san pellegrino water because restaurants just charge a fortune for it.Total spend for two was under R500 with a take away tiramisu and the two glasses of wine so good value for money. Spiga you win my vote.

Visited twice on a trip to Durban as we stayed nearby and enjoyed it each time! Food was lovely, staff were attentive and I liked the setting.

The vibe was good but the food for all four people in our party was very average, especially considering the price. The prawns were dry and tasteless and shockingly not one person asked us at any point during, or after our meal if we had enjoyed the food. I left feeling very disappointed.

Service was amazing. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu, so when I told her what I wanted she combined 2 dishes to make me exactly what I wanted. It came out divine. Hubby also loved his food. Atmosphere was good but started getting cold.. which didn't last long because they turned on the heaters and it became comfortable in no time. Will definitely be going there again. Cheers to the Spiga team.

This places made me feel warm and special. Sitting next to a grandmother who is also the owner of the restaurant, watching her lovingly feed her grandchildren makes you realize the importance of a family run business. The food was nothing short of Italian splendor. I highly recommend the butternut ravioli. Friendly service and authentic high quality meals is what you will get here.

I visited Spiga last week with a party of 9 for lunch and was delaying this review. But let's get right into it. The service was slow. Two amongst us were regulars both new the menu but both did not finish their meals, one had pasta who did not even ask for a doggy bag for his half eaten meal. I had the pasta filled with stuffed with beef. It was not tasty and had I not been hungry, I with have left it, luckily I had a tall draft beer to wash it down. The rest of the party did not enjoy their meals as well so much so that no one ordered desert. This was meant to be a long drawn out luncheon alas it was cut short. I did not even take pics. It is a very popular restaurant and I thought that it was just me. Maybe I was comming down with something, but the shared sentiments for the rest confirmed my thoughts. There are many more pasta restaurant that will serve you a better meal. Never again.
