Would not waste my time going back to Baxter and Black…Expensive! did not complete what I was advised when I dropped my boots off, and did not hold the time that advised. To add, less than 12 months later, the repair they did (for over $400!) is broken, and I’m back at a different cobbler/boot maker.Will not go back again! Poor workmanship, extremely expensive, terrible service.Needless to say, I’m not happy to be rectifying their workmanship after I was ripped off by them less than 12 months ago.

Amazing Service and attention to detail! Nathan took initiative to do extra small fixes I didn't notice, yet never charged more than his initial quote! Picked up my shoes newly polished, waxed, laced, and ready to wear!

Absolutely fantastic at what they do.I brought in a pair of Guidi PL2 boots which had, through an unfortunate turn of events, become completely waterlogged. This left them with an unbearably loud squeak whenever I took a step.After a short phone call, I brought them around to Baxter and Black, and after a short chat it was decided that really the only solution would be to resole the boots entirely. Nathan excellently explained the process of how this would occur, and the steps they'd take to make the new soles as accurate as possible to how they originally were.Having received them back at last, I can only commend Nathan and the rest of the Baxter and Black staff for an absolutely masterful job at restoring my beloved boots, and an especial commendation for the superb job done with the stitching.There really is no question that they are masters at their craft.

Job seems to have been done well. Cannot fault the quality so far.For some reason, they don’t tell you (eg by text message) that the job is done. And when you ring, you need to speak to the “organiser” who never seems to be there and others seem incapable of looking up the job or taking a message for the organiser. In the end, I took a chance and just turned up. Thankfully, the hour drive was not wasted!!

I am extremely satisfied with the work done on my new Crockett and Jones Lindrick boots at Baxter and Black.I ended up deciding to get sole protectors and lulu toe plates installed for the versatility around the unpredictability of our Australian climate. Very satisfied with the finished product; particularly the little details like the curve end to the sole protector piece to match the contour of the outsole.I should also note that I’m based in Brisbane and the inter-state transaction with Baxter and Black in Sydney was seamless and well-worth the additional time and postage cost. Communication was also great throughout the process.

Nathan from Baxter and Black saved my shoes! Unfortunately I had bought a pair of Demonia boots that were way too small for my calves - though I could get the boots on, the front paneling was massively off center. I loved the shoes and couldn't bear to return them, so brought them in to Baxter and Black. Nathan was very attentive to what I was hoping to achieve and he resewed the paneling on my boots to have extra elastic so I could position it correctly on top of my calf. What I also appreciate is he suggested a shoe brand I might like based on the Demonia boots, to which I went home and actually liked them so much I bought three pairs of that brand. Thanks Nathan for the good work and suggesting Anthony Wang Collection!

Recent work done. Resole was good but repair and polish was no better than what you could learn from watching a youtube video. As a matter of fact if you did watch a video the job would have been done better. Bad glue job instead of a properly executed repair with reinforcement and the polishing was pretty basic given the price. I can't recommend this business as the price charged is not reflected in the work done.

The best leather workers around! I bought an antique sporran belt and due to its age it needed to be completely re-made. Nathan was incredible helpful with how the buckle would work/fit and used a beautiful leather. It sits perfectly - I’ll definitely be back for future shoe/leather repairs!

I came to this shop based on all the glowing reviews but my experience was a bit odd. From the point when I dropped off the shoes to picking them up I felt like the answers to my simple questions were very forced and like the guy was doing me a favour. I believe their pricing is too high and turnaround time too long. All that was required was to glue the sole and inner sole of my husband's shoes, surely this doesn't take two weeks to achieve even if it's a busy shop, and for a $70 price tag? Especially when he'd only glued one of the inner soles and forgotten to do the other? Lucky I checked before leaving. Not even a simple, oh sorry I missed that I'll fix it straight away for you". Which he did fix it on the spot but there was zero acknowledgement or apology. To sum up

If you live in Sydney and you need a cobbler, Baxter & Black is where it’s at.I had travelled out to Newtown from western Sydney -pre lockdown- and dropped off a pair of treasured tabis to have the soles and heels protected, and I had every intention of picking them up but due to harshen lockdowns rules I was unable to. However, Nathan was able to organise swift home delivery! It was great to have my boots posted to me all shiny and fresh.The quality of work is top tier! Tabis require a custom sole and the guys have very careful crafted on sole protectors so seamlessly, even Margiela would be proud.Baxter & Black know what they’re doing and I’ve had a very helpful and trustworthy experience with them. They really live up to their great reputation, can’t recommend them enough!
