Hout Bay Seal Island cruise

It's an amazingly beautiful site to behold, how these beautiful mammals can adapt and live on a small island that comprises of 99% rock. They've become so accustomed to humans that some of them come into Hout Bay Harbour and sunbathe there. For those who are not accustomed to the smells of the sea and of animals, you may find that the colony of seals emit a not so pleasing odour. But for those of you who are nature lovers, then this is one place that should be a must see, when visiting the Western Cape.

Great experience. Google navigation will take you right past the harbour to a local neighbourhood, rather look for signs for the harbour. You're guaranteed to see seals. Many boat options to choose from ranging from R120 upwards.

An amazing day out. We visited the Seal Island as part of a day trip in Cape Town. Got to Hout Bay and paid R100 per adult for tickets to get on the boat. Would highly recommend taking cash as card payments could be trickly sometimes due to load shedding. The crew were nice and helpful. It was a windy day so our ride was a bit bumpy but enjoyable, it was so lovely seeing the seals in their own space. Boat stopped for about 10 - 15mins a little distance from where there was a big concentration of the seals ans we admired them from the boat, and then we returned back to the bay. It was approximately a 1hr round trip. The toilets at the bay were clean. Would definitely recommend this trip / adventure...

It was truly a different experience to be out in the ocean. The Nautical Charters boat ride was calm and relaxing. The ride to seal Island was mesmerising. Being out in the ocean was like nothing I had experienced before. The smell of fish coming from the ocean wasn't so pleasant but it something you easily forget about if you just take in the scenery. You can see some seal while at the harbour but there is something special when you see them in their natural habitat at seal Island. You can get some nice shots and videos while you are out in the ocean. This adventure is available for people of all ages and the prices are quite affordable and well worth it.

It's a beautiful place. A real tourist vibe. We could watch the seals swimming under the boat. Loved it

Nice place to visit and swim, visit the seal island.Weather was too cold to venture offshore.Settle with the lone seal and the owner, it was delightful, for 30 rand to get to feed, photo and see tricks.Next door restaurant serves sea food, the usual fish and chips, calamari, and prawns, but delicious
