Veldskoen Padstal De Doorns
A surprising find but a delicious one. The usual farm stall fair on offer but the magic is in their restaurant, especially the baker. Had a delicious sandwich but I could have that entire loaf. We also especially enjoyed the quaint outside seating area. Craving more of that delicious bread just thinking about it.

This is a great please for a pit stop on the long road, or just a weekend morning breakfast or lunch. Many products to choose from in store, and amazing coffee!! Food tastes great.

Absolutely exceptional!Veldskoen is located Along the N1.They stock everything a padstal should have and more.We were greeted by a lovely lady sitting at the front desk. We spoke for a while about the cold weather.At the back of the padstal, there is a small coffee shop next to a heartwarming fireplace.The coffee was good and the bathrooms were clean!Visiting Veldskoen was a pleasure.All covid-19 regulations were followed.

I've visited this Padstal quite a few times before, but Sunday definitely was the last time.Every time we return to Cape Town from holiday or weekends away, we drive past Veldskoen and I've always wanted to have coffee and cake there or a meal, but every single time (literally every single time of which I can remember 2 times to be in the past year) I am shown away because the kitchen closes soon. Every time there has been customers sitting still having a meal and I would request if I can only have a cup of tea (how much effort is that for the kitchen...) just to be told that they unfortunately can't help me. Once I was told I can't even have a takeaway coffee.On Sunday I went there again, early in the day (before 2pm) and was sure that I will strike it lucky. Three of us arrived there and there were at least 3 open tables and about 3 tables occupied inside. Outside, one table was occupied and the rest were all vacant. There were also two areas near a fireplace where no one was sitting (lounge-like.) We asked if we could sit down for a meal and they said they are fully booked for Father's day. We asked if we can sit on the couches and just have a cup of tea and not a meal. Again we were told it is not possible. I mentioned that I am told to leave every single time I get there and they couldn't care less - happy to show me the door.The lady at the counter at the front was kind and wanted to help when I explained my experience. However, she didn't have the authority to make the call. By then I anyway wanted to find a restaurant where I am welcome. You won't see me again and everyone with me every single time kind of has the same feeling about you, so it is hard for me to understand how you can still be in business. This is the first restaurant ever that has shown me away this many times - I've literally never arrived at a convenient time. Please close your front gate if you are not open for business or put up a sign to say the restaurant is closed.

Stopped for a meeting en-route and was greeted with a warm fireplace and comfortable seating to feed my little one. Friendly service from all the staff at the cafe.I didn't eat anything but enjoyed a nice pot of tea. Padstal has a variety of cured foods, wines and gifts to peruse and purchase. I didn't eat anything but enjoyed a nice pot of tea. Will stop here again.
