Amazing place. Just being surrounded by water is as peaceful as you can imagine.

Very beautiful place

Water supply was a problem, it kept the staff busy sorting it out. The pool was dirty from the day we checked in until we checked out. The staff was friendly though with all the complains we had.

I have not visited the Vaal area in many years. Most of the Restaurant's were closed down due to Covid everything was behind huge walls, the roads were potholed, traffic was all heavy-duty trucks so it was a case of dodging them and holes in the road . One thing , why is everything behind concrete walls I have more chances of getting into the Great Pyramid than finding a way to achieve visiting the Vaal Dam. The views of the Dam are very good except that's how near I got parked on a hill top road looking down but not staying long enough to really enjoy the visit . Looking for a Coffee shop is a mission very few and far and inbetween , perhaps I chose the wrong day to visit.One thing, that Dam is extremely BIG must be nice to visit when the gates are open or when they return for business . We'll visited the sluice gates open that was very interesting, plenty water. Perhaps next time it will be more people friendly.
