Exclusive Books Canal Walk

Exclusive Books shut it's doors after the covid pandemic. More's the pity since it's one of our most loved and appreciated bookstores. I was disappointed because all there was at May's end, 2022, was a pop-up. Still I found something good - Simon Sinek's 'Start with Why', an inspiring and useful one, as is the author...well worth having a look at his YouTube posts as well. The GOOD NEWS was that Exclusive Books was once again opening its doors from Friday 3rd June 2022..all those wonderful reads again available to all you avid bookworms! The staff were most friendly, helpful and informative. Go browse you lucky fish that live in Cape Town...or visit from beyond...

The staff are helpful and pleasant and the shop is nice and quiet. It's a good break if you wanna get away from all the droning of the rest of the mall. I was held up in there with a book yesterday, and before I knew it 3 hours had passed. They have yummy snacks outside the store too.

Shocking and humiliating experience with my online order and Canal walk branch!! Purchased some books as a gift in Oct. Expected collection date was 8th Nov. Understandably sometimes there are delays but after multiple times of calling the store they were not helpful. I received no communication advising of the delay either from the online store. Eventually I escalated it to customer service and the books were ready for collection a day later. But when I went to the store the experience only got more horrific!! No one could find my order. But WORST of all one the employees had the audacity to ask me if I paid for my order!!! It was so humiliating! Why would I be sent an email to collect and be collecting books I haven't paid for! Eventually after waiting a while they found the package which was in the draw the whole time. It took 3 people including a manager to find it. Not happy at all!!!

Loving the new store. Great selection and engaging staff who new their stock. Pity they don't have the full range of magazines thay they once had but overall a great experience for young and old.

Great book shop. Coffee and cake and be bought just outside. Instore dining while read up. Bean bags available. Great environment. Books are a bit costly.

Store has a lot of variety. I like fantasy books, mind body spirit and Manga primarily and the variety at the store is very impressive.Also a lot of interesting other sections, puzzles and gadgets. Definitely worth a look

Lovely staff. Called ahead looking for a book, they checked and let me know they had it. We may not have been greeted on entry but they were very attentive when we asked for help.Also, not treated like thieves and followed throughout the store - thanks for that. They will walk you to the genre you are interested in (not just point in a general direction and continue chatting to one another) and even have recommendations. Even remembered me from the last time I was there and the lovely long chat we had.Definitely turned around the last experience of the other staff member not helping me as she thought I was the nanny of a woman with seventyleven children I did not arrive with. Much much better experience.They have a lovely selection of local authors so it's nice to see them show cased and that my suggestions did not fall on deaf ears.Would definitely recommend this store if you're looking to buy a book or two while in Canal Walk. They now close at 8.
